OUR TEAM
Often times people struggle unnecessarily with feelings of inadequacy, depression, anxiety or other difficult issues because they feel they should be able to handle problems on their own or are too embarrassed to seek professional help. Studies show that individuals who seek therapy report increased ability to handle stress and greater life satisfaction than those who do not seek treatment.
Additionally, research endorses a combination of therapy as the most effective means of decreasing psychological distress.
The Center for Advanced Psychological Services (CAPS) is dedicated to providing quality assessment and treatment to individuals and families struggling with personal or mental health issues.

Avery Morrison, L.P.C.
Licensed Professional Counselor
Mrs. Morrison joined CAPS in January 2017. She has been practicing as a licensed therapist for over 8 years. After graduating from the University of Mississippi, she gained experience as a clinician at the community mental health center in Oxford, MS. She continued her work as a therapist at an inpatient crisis center and at a geriatric hospital by running group programs and providing individual therapy to patients. Mrs. Morrison moved to the Hampton Roads area 4 years ago with her husband and two children. As a military spouse, she found it incredibly gratifying to spend her days as a Military and Family Life Counselor in two local elementary schools, helping the children of service members cope with difficulties related to military life. She is looking forward to providing therapeutic services and helping individuals reach their goals and realize their full potential.
